Reports To

OCIF Board of Directors (BoD) through the Chairman of the Board

 

OCIF MISSION:   To provide the highest quality of religious, educational, and social services to the community in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

OCIF VISION:  To foster the ideal American Muslim identity that allows the community members to achieve personal and spiritual growth as well as positively impact the lives of our fellow citizens and humanity at large.

Job Summary:

The OCIF Executive Director is the key management leader with the responsibility of leading and directing all aspects of the Foundation including the implementing the adopted strategic plan, operations, budgeting, fundraising, managing staff and consultants, outreach to the Muslim community and the community at large.  His / her performance shall be in support of the Mission and Vision of the Foundation.

Compensation Package:

Starting at $70,000 plus benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities and Duties (including but not limited to):

Leadership

  • Develop an Operational Plan reflecting the strategic goals and objectives of the Foundation per 2021-2024 Strategic Plan and lead its implementation.

  • Work with the Board on the achievement of the Strategic Plan goals and objectives and suggest re-alignment as necessary.

  • Provide professional leadership and direction to all management and staff.

  • Engage and assist in recruiting volunteer leadership for the Foundation.

  • Lead the Strategic Planning process for the Foundation every three years or as directed by the BoD to ensure that the Foundation can successfully fulfill its Vision.

Financial Administration

  • Oversee the financial strength and growth of the Foundation including preparing annual budget for review and approval with the BoD, managing the operation of the Foundation within the approved budget, and presenting monthly financial statements to the BoD.

  • Ensure appropriate internal financial controls are in place including appropriate policies and procedures for financial and operational risk management of the Foundation.

  • Ensure accountability and achievement of revenue and expenditure goals according to budgets.

  • Ensure highest ethical standards and fiduciary oversight of Foundation assets and donor intentions.

Fundraising

  • Lead the fundraising activities and collaborate with the BoD on developing novel fundraising events and other revenue streams necessary to support the Foundation’s mission.

  • Cultivate a portfolio of committed community prospects and major gift donors.

Community Engagement

  • Responsible for the enhancement of the Foundation’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with community leadership, Religious Director(s) and ad-hoc Board Committees.

  • Improve the Foundation’s utilization and implementation of new technologies to support its mission, and improve its on-line community outreach.

  • Adopt and utilize technology, methods and social media networks to engage the community for achieving the strategic goals.

Operations and Personnel Management

  • Manage the Foundation’s, facilities, operations and secure the appropriate needed resources.

  • Responsible for the hiring, supervising, evaluating and retention of all competent and qualified personnel. Ensure appropriate staffing to operate efficiently – administratively and financially.

  • Maintain guidelines, policies and procedures and update where necessary for smooth and transparent operations.

  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the Foundation’ facilities including preventive maintenance and renovations.

Collaboration with Board of Directors

  • Work with the BoD and staff to ensure that the Foundation’s Mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the Foundation’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.

  • Organize and attend regular Board meetings, assist with development of the Board meeting agendas, assist with development of meeting minutes, and follow up on actions items resulting from Board meetings. Ensure appropriate staffing and operations of Board committees and sub-committees.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in management, financial, business, education, public administration, or related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred and may be substituted with equivalency in management experience.

  • Five or more year of senior-level management experience (nonprofit or equivalent is highly preferred).

  • A proven record in financial management, operations, resource development, comprehensive fundraising and strategic planning (nonprofit is highly preferred).

  • Visionary, innovative, driven and yet a people’s person.

  • Exceptional initiative, vision, and ambition to lead a vibrant and growing community.

  • High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.

  • Superb organizational and planning skills, flexibility, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through and ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Aptitude for delegating and fostering responsibility and accountability in all reporting staff.

  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create effective and compelling donor materials and effectively communicate the Foundation’s mission.

  • Strong public speaking ability.

  • Exceptional fund raising skills and ability to meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.

  • Experience working with BoD, volunteers, non-profits, and community-based organizations.

  • Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, and strong work ethics in the performance of the duties of the Executive Director.

  • Evening and weekend hours may be required as needed.
